There’s an old proverb that two heads are better than one. Well, with the Stark Team, you get three. Anne and I were delighted with the process and outcome of our recent home sale in Lake Forest. We had rented the home for six years and it needed a quick, cost-efficient, targeted makeover – and that’s what happened.
Let’s start with Elaine’s incredible “Handy List” of contractors: You don’t get onto that list unless you are trusted to deliver the goods. Having had plenty of poor – or underwhelming -- experience with contractors over the years, I was impressed with just how reliable these guys were. The Stark Team stayed right on top of all the work I commissioned, leaving me free to add value where I could – and deal with my full-time job in downtown L.A.
But let’s back up: What was the work? It was no more and no less than what needed to be done. Simone offered up targeted suggestions like quartz countertops, a “farmer’s sink”, upgraded light fixtures – contemporary items that required relatively small amounts of money that truly paid off. Yet, I was not pressured into anything I did not really want to do: Elaine, Don and Simone were particularly good at taking me out of my own head about what I like. Right down to the color scheme of the paint and carpet, they gently steered me into a results-oriented makeover that would appeal to the widest number of potential buyers. Where I didn’t need to spend money they told me not to waste money. Quite refreshing.

My wife met Elaine when she was casually browsing open houses. We were expecting our 3rd "surprise" child and needed to move quickly. I must say that you've helped turn that perception around for Rachelle and me. Three weeks after I first called Elaine, we were in escrow to both buy a new home and sell our previous home. The house we bought was through one of your clients and our previous house was sold in less than 3 days. Now, two months after we've moved, we can say that everything went like clockwork. Rachelle and I were well informed at every step, but we didn't have to do anything except sign papers. As a team, you've been exceptional in three important areas:

The service that you have provided us has been absolutely superb from the day we interviewed you until the day we closed the sale. As you know, we interviewed six real estate teams. Your responsiveness during the selection process separated you from your competitors. We believed that this responsiveness was an indicator of future performance, and it certainly was. Our home sold in four days, and we received full asking price. This is good. In addition, Don's help in replacing a circuit breaker and welding a gate hinge for us, caused by my mechanical ineptness, saved us repair cost and was definitely customer service that exceeded our highest expectation. Your expertise in guiding the buyer through some difficult hurdles even though they were represented by a different agent again was customer service rarely seen e.g. inaccurate credit reports, obtaining homeowners insurance, etc. Of equal importance, the communications flow was both timely and informative. This is a rather long story as it begins over three years ago when we drove past a house for sale in Jasper Hill. You were the realtor on the sign and met us immediately to show the house. It was beautiful the view was spectacular and we wanted it. Unfortunately, because we felt obligated to use the realtor we were using prior to this house, we had to go through her. She misled us and we lost that house. We were devastated and fired her as our realtor. You were so kind and kept your eye open for other homes in this area with a view as good as that one. Three years later, out of the blue, you called us with two houses that met the criteria we stated earlier. We looked at the second home and immediately fell in love with it. You helped us with the offer and explained the process. Within hours, the offer was accepted and the home was ours. The second thing that really impressed us was the way you helped us work around potential problems. When we had trouble with the Association that threatened our closing date, you helped us go door to door to get support for our position from neighbors. We were ultimately able to get the problem solved through your closing agent. Your dedication and your very professional team are tremendous strengths that every seller and buyer need and we certainly valued it.
You attacked the problem from the very first day. It seemed like one day we listed the property and the next day people were streaming through looking at the house. Then it was closed and we were on our way to our new home. The house was sold within a week. From listing to closing took only 45 days.
The clincher for us was that we really struggled to find a new home in Seattle. After we fired our second realtor there, we asked you for help. You interviewed realtors for us and selected one that was proper for us. With her, we found a house in two days and closed in time to keep our schedule.
